We all know that Beyoncé has worn some of the most extravagant designs to emerge from internationally renowned fashion houses. She is the queen of the world, after all. In her most recent music video for “Apes--t,” Queen Bey showed off several opulent looks including a $140,000 couture wedding dress. That’s right — $140,000.
Alongside a surprise album drop, Beyoncé and hubby Jay-Z released a music video for their new collaborative track “Apes**t” on Saturday, June 16th. Both Carters don some seriously sweet designer threads throughout the entire video. But we just can’t get over the Stephane Rolland “Watteau” chiffon and taffeta bridal gown Beyoncé wore while posted in front of “The Winged Victory of Samothrace” in the Louvre.
The billowing bubble skirt matched with the expertly crafted sheer bodice make this dress scream, “I’m expensive! Like, really expensive!”
According to Page Six, Rolland, a Parisian haute couture designer who previously styled Bey for Jay-Z’s “Family Feud” music video, is currently selling his “Watteau” gown for €120,000 (equal to about $138,748). And that’s just the cost of the dress. If you want to replicate Bey’s entire “Apes**t” bridal look, you’ll have to purchase the Alexis Mabille ruffled cape — another haute couture creation. Yeah, you might have to put the new house on hold.
Beyoncé almost upstaged her own recent bridal moment with this Rolland creation. Those who attended the On The Run II tour in Cardiff saw that the Carters seemingly renewed their vows in celebration of their ten-year wedding anniversary. In a video montage that played while Beyoncé and Jay-Z performed “Young Forever,” Bey is shown wearing designer Galia Lahav’s $10,300 “Thelma” gown, a piece that pays homage to Queen Victoria.
But Beyoncé hasn’t always worn haute couture for her bridal looks. Her actual wedding gown, worn during her April 2008 wedding to Jay-Z, was designed by her own mom, Tina Lawson. Word on the street is that Bey wasn’t the biggest fan of the simple strapless dress, but it was certainly a sweet gesture to let her mom play such a huge part in her big day.
Queen Bey is also a fan of pulling bridal fashion off the aisle and onto the red carpet. She wore an Elie Saab bridal jumpsuit during the 2014 On The Run tour. She then donned a Stella McCartney wedding gown to attend the 2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Party. And Bey chose wedding attire again, specifically a piece from Yolan Cris' Spring 2017 bridal collection, to the 2016 Video Music Awards (from which she took home eight awards).
Girl loves bridal, and we can’t blame her. If ever in need of wedding gown inspiration, look no further than Beyoncé.
